"Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter."

- Oscar Wilde

I.

Dr. Jim Bell has been selected as the Co-Chairman of the American College of Anti-Aging Sports Medicine Professionals.  The Board of Directors for both the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Sports Medicine Professionals (ACASP) were unanimous in their decision to offer Dr. Bell this unique honor.  Dr. Robert Goldman, Chairman and Founder of the A4M, stated that the A4M and ACASP are proud to have Dr. Bell’s leadership and expertise as part of the A4M and ACASP team.  Dr. Bell will be a critically important bridge between the medical profession and the fitness industry.  Dr. Bell’s role in developing the ACASP Certification is a benefit to both the medical and fitness professions and the people they serve.  The ACASP Certification (designed, developed and executed under Dr. Bell’s leadership and expertise) enables doctors to learn how to use exercise and nutrition prescription to lead their patients to the health and fitness lifestyle while simultaneously educating fitness professionals how to safely and effectively assess, design and manage the exercise and nutrition needs of the doctor’s patients with a variety of diseases, disabilities and dysfunctions.  ACASP is where medicine and fitness meet for the betterment of both scopes of practice, as well as the humanity they serve.

According to Dr. Bell:  The USA is in the midst of an Obesity Epidemic!  The resulting metabolic syndrome has devastating consequences for our society. We should all be indebted to Dr. Goldman for his vision in bringing the medical and fitness communities together to combat this epidemic.  In the years to come, history will show that Dr. Goldman’s leadership and foresight turned the tide against the Obesity Epidemic!  Dr. Goldman is the first doctor in the medical community to determine that medicine alone cannot win this battle and that major lifestyle changes must be made.  The fitness community must also recognize that the fitness industry by itself cannot win this battle.  Only 8% of the American population exercises with the required frequency, intensity and time to derive significant fitness benefits.  Working together, the medical and fitness professionals can lead the other 92% to the fitness lifestyle.  I am honored to be selected for this critically important mission by the A4M, ACASP and Dr. Goldman.  I invite all members of the medical and fitness professions to join us in this fight.  This is a fight we must win!

II.

The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and the American College of Anti-Aging Sports Medicine Professionals (ACASP) has selected the International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA) and Doctor’s Fitness Centers (DFC) to bring their renowned expertise on fitness, nutrition, sports medicine and conditioning to the A4M Conference in Las Vegas December 13-15, 2007.  This will be the first conference of its kind, EVER!  Attendees will have access to the world’s greatest presenters on Anti-Aging Medicine, health, and longevity presented by the prestigious faculty of the A4M and ACASP, and now attendees will also have access to the world’s greatest presenters on fitness, nutrition, sports medicine and conditioning.

According to the chairman and founder of the A4M, Dr. Robert Goldman:  The A4M has become the fastest growing association for physicians because we provide the world’s most cutting-edge research, presented by the world’s most knowledgeable doctors.  We needed a fitness, nutrition, sports medicine, and conditioning faculty that could provide the same high-quality presentations that have built the A4M.  After careful consideration of the many fine education and certification organizations available in the fitness industry, the IFPA and DFC were the only choices to make.  The IFPA and DFC faculty are all superb presenters, dedicated to the mastery of their craft and obsessive about staying current on the latest research.  Equally important is their obsession with cutting through all extraneous material and synthesizing all research down to the most critical knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential for both medical and fitness professions to know to operate in the safest, most effective possible manner.  The IFPA has the most extensive array of certification courses (over 60 by the end of 2007) and 100 continuing education unit (CEU) courses (by the end of 2007).  The extensive knowledge bank in the IFPA along with the ability to deliver that knowledge makes the joint A4M/ACASP/IFPA/DFC Conference the most powerful in both the medical and fitness professions.

From Dr. Jim Bell, CEO and Founder of the IFPA:  This is the highest honor ever bestowed on fitness professionals by the medical community.  I want to extend my deepest appreciation to all the dedicated members of the IFPA, the IFPA faculty, and the IFPA staff.  It is only through your concerted hard work, diligent execution of your craft, and continuous striving for greater knowledge and professionalism that have led to this prestigious recognition.  This is not recognition directed at a few individuals or an entity; this is well deserved recognition for every member of the IFPA.  It is because of YOU, YOUR hard work, diligence and professionalism that the IFPA received this honor.  In the past, physicians were reluctant to send their patients to a personal fitness trainer, because many personal fitness trainers lacked the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to train the doctor’s patients safely and effectively, but YOU, the IFPA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, have demonstrated your professionalism and abilities and the recognition for YOUR efforts goes to YOU!

I also want to extend my deepest appreciation to the IFPA staff and to the IFPA faculty.  The IFPA faculty has proven time and again over the last 14 years to be the finest group of educators in the fitness industry.

III.

The IFPA will be moving our annual “Fitness By the Bay” Conference to Las Vegas December 13-15.  Please mark your calendar NOW and make this our best conference ever!  Please continue the IFPA tradition by learning as much as you can to MASTER YOUR CRAFT!  Keep an eye on your FitBits for further information!

IV.

The IFPA will be accepting applications for Presenters at the A4M/ACASP/IFPA/DFC Conference in Las Vegas December 13-15, 2007.  You will need to send your presentation topic, topic description, 2 photos (1 head & shoulders, and 1 full body), resume and a signed agreement (provided by the IFPA) that you will make a Non-commercial, educational presentation.

Note:

Unlike other conferences in the fitness industry, IFPA conferences offer both IFPA and IACET CEUs for numerous professions such as medical, fitness, healthcare & education fields, etc.  Therefore, the “infomercial” style presentation routinely provided by other conventions is not allowed by IFPA or IACET.
