In Sports: Speed and Power are Omnipotent

From Jim Bell, PhDc., President, IFPA

Congratulations to all of you on your success with the IFPA Sports Conditioning Specialist Certification (SCSC) and the IFPA Youth Fitness Instructor Certification (YFIC).  We at the IFPA are always happy to receive reports on your accomplishments, but the critical nature of the SCSC and YFIC are especially exhilarating. Not only are you bringing great credit to the IFPA, but you are also leading a revolution in athletic training while simultaneously enriching the lives of our country’s youth and elite (or soon to be elite) athletes.

In order to ensure that all IFPA SCSC and YFIC Instructors have the best and latest research and techniques for maximizing athletic development I have provided a detailed analysis of proper sprinting technique. Many of you are already aware that speed and power are omnipotent in athletic competition. I’m sure many of you are also aware that teaching proper sprinting technique can be the very best way to initiate the development of the “Kinetic Chain” that is absolutely essential for success in any sport. What is often times missing from the coach or trainer’s repertoire of instruction is the precise, step – by – step breakdown of sprinting biomechanics. That problem has now been rectified. Simply Click Here to read a thorough description of precisely how to teach your athletes to run fast.

For those of you that are unaware, the IFPA has added 10 Sport Specific Sports Conditioning Certifications to complement both the IFPA SCSC and YFIC, these are: Baseball, Basketball, Distance Running, Football, Golf, Hockey, Martial Arts, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball.

All of these certifications complement and enhance the volume of essential and practical information you learned from the SCSC and YFIC.
