Description:
Individuals will be working a variable, part-time work schedule as substitute exercise instructor. Participants will be hired in accordance with LANL/DOE regulations. Responsibilities include providing safe and educational group exercise classes. Implements these classes in accordance with LANL Wellness Center's instructor and class component guidelines. Interacts with exercise class participants to ensure that exercises are carried out in a safe and effective manner. Teaches participants class method, purpose and procedure. Teaches the class at the appropriate level for all participants. Suggests modified exercises for individuals as needed. Provides prompt and professional services. Always starts and ends class on time. Monitors class participation through accurate attendance records. Compiles class attendance records at the end of each month and submits to the Instructor Coordinator. Knows all Wellness Center emergency procedures. Attends Wellness Center workshops and meetings when necessary to update skills. Aids in the development and implementation of exercise class motivational programs as needed. Performs as a team player with all Wellness Center personnel.

Qualifications:
Ability to teach safe exercise routines and demonstrate proper exercise form. Exhibit personable demeanor in front of a class. Previous teaching experience. Ability to work well with people. Ability to follow supervisor's recommendations and suggestions. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with both the Instructor Staff and Wellness Center Staff. Desired Skills: Have previous teaching experience. Ability to project self-confidence and stamina. Have adequate voice projection. Use correct terminology when cueing moves. Cue in a timely manner. Ability to choreograph routines. Aerobics or fitness certification preferred

Education:
High School Diploma, CPR, ACE, AFAA, or ACSM Health Fitness Instructor certification required within
