Functional Senior Fitness CEC (12 credits)
The Functional Senior Fitness CEC contains all the guidelines and knowledge necessary to train seniors in primary care nursing homes.
This class of clients generally have difficulty with daily motor functions and therefore require assistance with functions such as standing, sitting,
eating, dressing, and other activities for daily living (ADLs).

CEC Learning Objectives
- Learn that you as a fitness leaders, not only needs training in leading a comprehensive exercise program, but
also an understanding of the limitations and special needs of those with illness, disability, chronic disorder or a sedentary lifestyle.
- Learn to design exercise programs as part of a general recreation, wellness, and restorative or rehabilitation programs.
- Learn to work with seniors, the frail elderly and other special adult populations.
- Learn the protocols provided in the text to aid frail elderly and adults with special needs to maintain or improve their level of functional fitness.
- Learn how to create a sense of fun and social connectedness in an exercise program.

- Become proficient at conducting warm-up exercises for enhancing range of motion, stretching, posture and breathing exercises.
- Become proficient at conducting aerobic training for seniors to increase cardiovascular endurance.
- Become proficient at resistance training exercises increasing muscular strength and endurance in seniors.
- Become proficient at cool-down exercises for promoting flexibility and relaxation in seniors.
- Become proficient at designing, presenting and adaptation your exercise program to meet the needs of older adults.
