Performance Nutrition CEC (8 credits)

The Performance Nutrition course is designed to further the knowledge of all fitness professionals with an emphasis on nutrition. Its sole purpose is to further your professional education in performance nutrition. This is not a certification course. It is an educational program to be used by all fitness professionals striving to raise their level of professionalism.

This course will show you how to:

  • Use food to help reduce the risks of heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and other diseases of aging.
  • Lose weight successfully, keep it off, and be at peace with food
  • Fuel an active lifestyle even when meals are replaced with snacks on-the-run
  • Perform better by proper fueling before, and after you exercise

  1. Learn nutrition protocols to boost your clients’ energy.
  2. Learn nutrition protocols to manage your clients’ stress.
  3. Learn nutrition protocols to build your clients’ muscle.

  1. Know how to make the right food choices in grocery stores, restaurants, drive-throughs, and the kitchen.

  4. Know how to eat before exercise and events as well as how to refuel afterward for optimal recovery.
  5. Learn the latest research on sports nutrition, hydration and fluid intake, vitamins, supplements, energy drinks, organic foods, and the role of carbohydrates and proteins during exercise.
  6. Learn the new food guide pyramid and the American Heart Associations’ latest dietary guidelines.
  7. Learn new protocols on losing weight (fat), getting energized to exercise and/or improving your health and performance.

  12. Understand the importance of age-specific nutritional needs.
  13. Understand the importance of balancing weight and activity.
  14. Understand the importance of the science of eating for sports success.
  15. Understand the importance of assessing your body: fat, fit or fine?
  16. Understand the importance of adding bulk, not fat.
  17. Understand the importance of losing weight without starving.
  18. Understand the importance of dieting gone awry: eating disorders and food obsessions.
  19. Understand the importance of winning recipes for peak performance.

This continuing education course will help you, the trainer/instructor, to safely and effectively guide your clients on a sound nutritional program.
