Today's Words of
Wisdom:
"The impossible
is often the untried."
Thanks to all of you
that have taken the time to fill out the IFPA “Fitness by the Bay”
Conference surveys! The information and suggestions you have provided
will be instrumental in making our conference the best event in the
fitness industry. I would also like to commend you highly for your
professionalism, wisdom and maturity. Twenty years ago, when I began
teaching certification courses, almost all the questions I received from
students revolved around bodybuilding and sports conditioning. Based on
the feedback on your surveys, I now find a significant shift toward
general health. This is a critical, revolutionary change from the past
and shows the future trends of the fitness industry.
I have often times said
that “the fitness and nutrition experts of today will become the doctors
of tomorrow.” The selections you have made on the survey show
me that you are prepared to expand your expertise beyond the appeal of
working with athletes to joining the IFPA in improving the fitness,
health and nutrition lifestyles of the men, women and children that make
up our communities. Welcome to the fight! I guarantee you that if you
take this battle seriously; it will lead you to success, not only
financially, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well.
For those of you still
focused on the athlete – No Problem – I often times take the athletes at
the IFPA Tennis and Fitness Academy thru their sports conditioning
work-outs for the sheer joy of working with individuals that put out
110% and go for broke on everything they do. I will be sharing my “trade
secrets” with you at the conference in August.
Since we have 6 months
to go before we get together in August, I have decided to gear future
FitBits articles towards the topics you have shown the greatest interest
in. And speaking of the conference, two of my good friends and superb
fitness experts: Dr. Wayne Westcott and Dr. Ben Lerner have already
informed me that they are looking forward to speaking to you at the
conference and doing book signings. Wayne has more books than Barnes &
Nobles and Ben’s new book
“Body by God” is on the Times Best Sellers list.
On another note, the
biggest complaint item I received on the Conference survey: “Worst Thing
About the IFPA” was that the IFPA did not have workshops in your local
area, you requested
workshops closer to your home, I need your help! I need more Faculty
Instructors that meet the same demanding standards you have come to
appreciate in our entire Faculty: (1) Master Degree, PhD, in exercise
related subjects, MD, DCM, etc.; (2) practical expertise in the fitness
industry; (3) outstanding teaching skills; (4) dedication to the fitness
lifestyle. Ask around and send candidates to our website or call (800)
785-1924 and ask for Lisa Maldonado.
Sincerely,
James T. Bell, M.S., IFPA President
