What made you choose a career in personal fitness training?

I was a physical education teacher for a few years and was always physically active myself. I took a few years off to raise my children and got involved in weight training. I realized I had found my passion!  I got my certification and have been training clients ever since. Seeing the way it has changed people’s lives, is so rewarding and gratifying.

How long have you been a Personal Trainer?

What made you choose the IFPA?

IFPA has a very good reputation in the industry. I found out when they would be in Houston and I signed up for the certification.

What are some adjectives your clients would use to describe you?

Professional, knowledgeable, and caring.

What qualities set you apart from other personal trainers? Education? Experience?

My education and years of experience. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education. I also have a passion for fitness for myself which sets an example to my clients. I live a healthy lifestyle and I have a desire to share it with others.

What aspect of personal fitness training do you like most?

Helping people live healthier and happier lifestyles.

What is your best success story?

I had a new client only interested in toning and losing a few pounds. Once we started working together, he saw amazing results. He had been with me 11 years and is in the best shape of his life at 45 years of age. What a transformation!  He looks and feels great.

How has the PFT business changed since you started?

It has gravitated from younger people wanting to look good, to older people realizing how important exercise is to their health and mobility later in life.

How do you envision growing your personal training business?

I envision growing my business by caring for my clients and trying to instill a sense of concern for their wellbeing. I hope that through their success and word of mouth, my business will continue to grow.

What was the hardest challenge you had to overcome in your personal training career?

Getting people to prioritize their goals. Getting them to realize that fitness is a lifestyle, encompassing exercise as well as healthy eating. They need to stick to a routine until it becomes a habit. When they see the results, it will become their new normal.

What is your best advice to someone just starting their career as a personal trainer?

Always listen to your clients! Ask questions to better enable you, to help them reach their goals.
